1) Learn self-hypnosis
I teach this to all my clients and offer a free recording to help you start now. Why is this so important? Because you are trying to rewire your brain and many years of behaviours. This is NOT easy to do, but to can be done. Learning self-hypnosis is a great way to quit and stay a non-smoker because it helps you deal with stress much more effectively as well as be more confident and resourceful in general.

2) Motivation
You must have an ABSOLUTE CONCRETE reason to want to quite that you could tell anyone in one sentence and they would believe you.
Ask yourself, “Why is changing this habit so important to me now?”
Get a pen and paper. Write down a page of reasons now.
3) Associate to consequences
You must have a full and complete experience now of the consequences of not changing.
Examples include:
You have had a medical and your doctor has given you specific evidence of problems you are having, problems you will have and you know that stopping is the only option
You have a complete and undeniable reason e.g. you realise you are pregnant.
In terms of reason, health is probably the #1 reason, but if you can’t point to a health scare or cough, then it makes it harder to connect with your deep internal desire, which hypnosis can amplify. Hypnosis won’t give you the motivation.
Only you can do that.
What hypnosis can do is make it easier to make the transition to becoming a non-smoker, teach you tools to stay a non-smoker and help you use your mind to overcome the bumps in the road.
4) Replace rewards
You must have a plan in place for how to reward yourself when you are not smoking
This can be as simple as thinking through, “What will you do after a relaxing meal?”
You know your routine is going to change, so plan for it!
5) Plan for the problems
The plan must include how you will outline with the inevitable stresses and worries that you will face and how you will deal with them. You won’t pretend they won’t be there.
What happens when it gets to 10 o’clock in the morning or it’s time for a tea or coffee?
If you associate smoking with eating, drinking or relaxing, which is likely, then you need to thinking that through.
